Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Microscopy


Interferometric Sytnthetic Aperture Microscopy (ISAM) is a technique that extends Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) from being a confocal technique, to being a true coherent imaging technique with uniform resolution throughout the volume of interest. This technique was originally demonstrated at optical frequencies. We have extended this technique to terahertz (THz) frequencies. Scanning techniques such as this one are necessary at THz due to the prohitively expensive cost of THz detectors.

Compressive Holography

Holography is a technique that allows for the interferometric measurement of a scalar electric field. Unfortunately the measured field does not uniquely determine the scattering sources that generate the field of interest. At DISP we have merged holographic techniques with compressive inference. This allows for accurate solutions to the underdetermined holographic process. This technique was extended to millimeter wave (MMW) frequencies in C. Cull, D. Wikner, J. Mait, M. Mattheiss, and D. Brady, "Millimeter-wave compressive holography," Appl. Opt. 49, E67-E82 (2010).
